WebFentanyl/Versed Drip Question. Just wondering…do any of you/your facilities require you to waste continuous IV fentanyl and versed bags if not all of it is gone within 24 hours? Some nurses do this stating that after 24 hours the drugs are less effective but I can’t find any research to support this claim. Webfor sedation. Most commonly used are fentanyl, morphine, hydromorphone and oxycodone. Potential adverse effects: hypotension with large dosages, constipation, respiratory depression Drug specific concerns Fentanyl: rigged chest if pushed fast Morphine: pruritis
