The Fire Mage can inflict consistent single-target damage and also a lot of AoE damage. On top of that, the Fire Mage can take a ton of damage before dying and has great utility. WebDragonflight did omit most of the bad things that plagued SL and BFA (most notably the borrowed power and specific grindy feel of their build around systems), which is excellent, but it didn't really add anything new. It didn't upgrade, improve upon, or progress really any aspect of the game past where it was a decade ago.
