This occurrence can be found in a Short story in 'Death Note 13: How to Read Death Note' book where Ryuk hands over an eraser to a new owner of the book, who happens to be a kid. Whereas in the actual Deathnote plot the Eraser isn't mentioned. Share Improve this answer Follow WebL in the source material wasnt 100% Japanese. He was Japanese and British (I believe it was). Him being black makes no difference and is actually kind of fitting for the character in that regard (diverse background). Even if they wanted to use the Japanese live action actor, it wouldnt fit. Would feel too forced.
